A college professor was recorded walking into a classroom he wasn't booked in for a final and demanded their colleague depart the realm.
It's been said that politics and departmental squabbles in the world of academia are often especially vicious, brutal, and petty because the stakes, at the end of the day, are very, very low.
While there may be some who in finding this swooping generalization of the personalities of school professors and administrators to be reductive or insulting, this viral TikTok uploaded by way of a consumer who is going by Quantavious Jr. the Second (@quantaviousjrthesecond) is not serving to dispel this belief.
The video in question starts with a text overlay that units the level for the interaction captured within the clip: "Entitled professor assumes he has the class for the final."
The guy in a horizontally striped sweater and baseball cap, the "entitled" UCLA professor in question, can be seen status over a table in the classroom arguing with a lady in the back of a table.
He can also be heard announcing "...final's location's changed, and yours is going to change right now. Because I have over 70 students, you have 35. So the smart, practical thing to do is —," It's at this level in the dialog that the professor status at the table interjects.
"You made an assumption that you have this room."
"Yeah I made that assumption because for fifteen years I've taken the final exam in the same classroom I've taught in always and because —"
She interjected once more, "Where, what room are you assigned for the final?"
He insists that it's the corridor that they are these days status in. "This one right here."
The feminine professor, who remains to be standing calmly in the back of the table, seems like she is asking for documentation that proves he certainly has the classroom booked for his ultimate "I want to see it on your —,"
But he cuts her off, claiming that he doesn't want to procure any evidence for the usage of the gap: "I don't have to because I never have been assigned a finals room. The reason is because I always take the final in the same classroom I teach in."
The other professor status at the back of the table answered proper again wondering that if this is really well the case, then why is it that he wasn't scheduled to administer his ultimate in the room?
"Well then why don't they have it blocked out?"
"Don't know! It's an imperfect world," he tells her, but she sticks to her weapons: "So why can't you call...and ask them to move me? Why do I have to solve the problem when we're in the slot we're supposed to be?"
The man refuses to let go of the classroom he is been accustomed to handing out assessments in, as he says, for the closing fifteen years: "Then I will call your department and your administration and solve this problem. What's the number?" the man asks her.
"I don't know if offhand," the girl tells him as she begins to have a look at and interact with her smartphone.
The TikToker who uploaded the video did not mince phrases when it came to what he considered the male professor's habits: "Ucla film teacher embarrassed himself today," they penned.
It didn't look like there have been many other customers who answered to the clip who had a positive opinion of the film professor's behavior either: "Wait the professor didn’t check his Syllabus and now he’s asking for an accommodation?"
Someone else discovered his demeanor and choice to engage in a loud argument in front of the feminine professor's magnificence to be a condescending transfer: "He deliberately belittled another professor in front of room full of students. That’s embarrassing and disruptive, couldn’t check the class location"
Another TikToker concept that the girl standing in the back of the table made some superb issues in her dialog with the male professor: "I loved 'why do I have to fix YOUR problem' yessssss"
Several different customers who watched the clip tagged UCLA's TikTok account in what turns out to be an strive to get the University to examine the incident.
Several viewers concept the other trainer being a woman in the end influenced the male professor's behavior towards her.
"I guarantee he’s speaking to her that way because she’s a little person. No way he would’ve spoken to an average sized professor like that esp a male," one wrote.
Another said, "He would NOT talk to a MAN like that gauranteed."
