Episode 1 of Season Five is all about birthdays for the Crispino/Bertolli family. Cristina is throwing an enormous party for her daughter's seventh birthday whilst Kathy is having a look forward to her 65th birthday, which is instantly drawing near. At some level she toyed with the theory of getting her celebration at a roller rink, but one thing a bit extra macabre was talking to Kathy.

Planning parties is one thing Kathy and Cristina revel in doing in combination. "We probably plan between 10 and 15 parties a year," says Cristina within the Season 5 premiere. It's no wonder that Cristina would mention the kind of celebration she would like to throw her mom when she in the end passes on. She advised Kathy the plan was once to decorate the funeral house in all the colours of each and every holiday. Suffering from a morbid roughly FOMO, Kathy will get the idea to throw herself a "living funeral birthday party."

She tells Cristina that both her mother and grandmother died on the age of 68, which is regarding for Kathy.
