The “Juice” singer has loved a meteoric upward push in good fortune and turn into a household name over the last few years. She has even had songs at the center of several TikTok developments, which is how you already know she’s in reality made it.

Obviously, Lizzo hasn’t all the time lived her life in the highlight. She has spread out not too long ago about her parents, and the major roles they played in her life and career. Here’s what we know.

Lizzo was once born on April 27, 1988, in Detroit, Mich. It almost certainly won’t come as a huge marvel to you that she wasn’t referred to as Lizzo on the time — her given identify is Melissa Viviane Jefferson. At the age of 10, Lizzo and her family moved to Houston, Tex., the place she started rapping when she was once a young person. Sadly, tragedy struck Lizzo’s life when her father died in 2009. In a 2019 interview with CBS This Morning, Lizzo mentioned that her dad had always inspired her to play track. Anything can happen in a decade. Tomorrow is the beginning of [your] anything,” the tweet read.

Speaking of Lizzo’s mom, it turns out that 2020 had some just right issues in store for her, too. Lizzo posted on Dec. 20, 2020 that she were able to gift her mom — Shari Johnson-Jefferson — with a brand-new automobile for Christmas.

“Got my mommy a brand spanking new Audi for Xmas,” Lizzo wrote in an Instagram caption underneath a video of the incredible marvel. “I remember crying in my car when my daddy passed, no task no cash nowhere to live, wishing I may at some point supply for my circle of relatives. I couldn’t do it for my dad so ima ensure that I spoil Mama. Happy holidays y’all.”
